2026 FAQs

Q: Is this only for undergraduates? 

A: Undergraduates and Master’s students are all welcome!  

Q: What does the schedule look like for the weekend?

A: The Hackathon will begin at 9:30am Saturday and Sunday. A general schedule will be posted here while a more detailed schedule will be released closer to the event. For more information please email Samantha (ss6682@columbia.edu

Q: How many people can be in a group? Can I work alone? 

A: Groups of 4 are the maximum amount allowed. We allow smaller groups of 2 or 3, however no individual entries are allowed.

Q: If I do enter alone, do I have to find a group? Will I be placed in one? 

A: We will ask for all participants to submit a form by TIME on Saturday with their group and specified tracks. Once this form is completed there will be NO changes. 

Any that fill out this form as an INDIVIDUAL will be released as well as their track of interest. They will have an additional hour to find at least 1 other participant to work with and complete the group & track form.

Q: What are the prizes? 

A: Each track’s top team will receive a bundle of movie tickets. The Grand Prize winner across all three tracks will receive a provisional patent sponsored by Clear IP. Details will be announced on the day of the event.

Q: I’m interested in volunteering/being a mentor? How do I sign up? 

A: We welcome all with prior Hackathon experience and/or experience in fields relevant to our event. Please email Samantha (ss6682@columbia.edu) for more information
